Ouk Ou or Phirum Ngoy, better known as Krom Ngoy, can be considered as the Father of Khmer Poetry.

Only two other poets, Oknha Suttantaprija Ind and Santhor Mok, came close to his calibre. His many prose and poems, sung in the forms of songs, such as the Law for Men and Women and Krom Ngoy’s Will, have been used as guides for many people throughout the country in raising their children.
